Ingredients:

  • 1 cup SuperRice Kala Namak Rice (rinsed and soaked for 20 minutes)

  • ½ cup yellow moong dal (split mung beans)

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 1 small tomato, chopped

  • 1 green chilli, slit (optional)

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil

  • Salt to taste

  • 3 cups water (or as needed for consistency)

  • Fresh coriander for garnish


Serve With:

Top with ghee and serve alongside papad, curd, or pickle — your perfect light comfort meal!


Instructions:

Let’s get cooking 🍲

Step 1 – Rinse & Soak
Rinse SuperRice Kala Namak Rice and moong dal together until the water runs clear.
Soak for about 20 minutes, then drain.

 

Step 2 – Temper & Sauté
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker or heavy pot.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onions, ginger, and green chili — sauté until golden.
Add tomatoes and cook until soft and pulpy.

 

Step 3 – Add Spices & Base
Add turmeric powder and salt.
Mix in the soaked rice and dal, coating well in the aromatic base.

 

Step 4 – Cook to Comfort
Pour in 3 cups of water, stir well, and cover.
Pressure cook for 3–4 whistles or simmer until soft and creamy.
For a lighter consistency, add a little more hot water at the end and mix gently.

 

Step 5 – Finish & Serve
Top with a spoon of ghee and garnish with fresh coriander.
Serve warm for a wholesome, nourishing meal.
